This week's reading asks the question of what does gamification have to do with fun.

Well fun is what every game developer wishes to achieve for their games, they want the player to have fun and enjoy the game they poured countless hours making.

When talking about fun in games it can be split into different 'categories' let's call them.

While playing a game, a player can experience fun in many different ways, like the narrative let's say, which can grip a player and have them completely invested in the story being told.

Challenge can also offer some type of fun for many people. Having challenging content in your game can influence a player to keep trying to beat said content for that euphoric feeling of conquering a challenge making you feel awesome and skilled at the game you are playing.

A good example of challenging content offering fun to players is 'The Race to World First' challenge that occurs every time a new raid tier is released in World of Warcraft. In the first few weeks of the raid being out, the best guilds will clear the new raid on Normal and Heroic difficulty to get themselves accustomed to the mechanics before heading into Mythic difficulty which is where the real race starts.

Some of the best players and guilds in the game take place in this race to be the first guild in the world to clear the tier on the hardest difficulty gaining the acknowledgment of millions of players and Blizzard themselves.
