Feedback Thoughts

The first article I read on feedback was '5 Reasons Why Feedback is Important' and you can find the link to it here : https://www.snapsurveys.com/blog/5-reasons-feedback-important/

The article talks about the importance of receiving feedback no matter if it is positive or negative feedback as both can help a person improve on their work. Feedback is something used every day by a company for multiple reasons.

1. Motivation

Receiving feedback of any sort can motivate a person. Positive feedback can bring up someone's spirits and motivate them to keep working as they are currently and negative feedback can motivate a person to push themselves harder and improve and fix the mistakes they might have made.

2. Learning

Giving feedback to someone can teach them something that maybe they did not know before.

3. Performance

Feedback can both improve an employee's performance but also the overall performance of the company in whatever the project or end goal might be.

The second article I read was 'Giving Feedback', and you can find the link to the article here : (https://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newTMM_98.htm)

From this article, I have learnt that feedback is a skill that not many people have and that most of the time it is used in the wrong way which brings down morale and performance, the complete opposite of what it is meant to do. A lot of companies' managers do not give feedback often, what they do is they write down how a employee is doing over a period of time then unload that employee with a load of 'feedback' that ends up not helping anyone in the long run.

This is the wrong way of giving someone feedback in my opinion as it hinders the employee's morale and performance but also the company loses as well not just the employee.
